New Missionaries have arrived! June 5, 2019

We were happy to meet Elder Garner, Elder Malmgren, Elder Petersen, Elder Roper, Sister Hall, Sister Hardin, Sister Kenner, Sister Mickelsen and Hermana Ostler to the Texas Houston Mission.  We have their picture on our refrigerator for about a month before they arrive and it so wonderful to finally meet them in person.  We are excited for all these wonderful missionaries to experience everything the Lord has for them here, which we know are many miracles and blessings and growth!

Transfer Day June 4, 2019

We meet at the Hafer building for transfers, thankfully the 2 assistants have everything organized such as who is going where and what car and who is driving etc.  We so appreciate our assistants to President Peterson and all the missionaries who do so much in bringing all to Christ!

God Be With You til We Meet Again

It is always a little sad to say goodbye to our returning home missionaries,  we have grown to love them and to have watched them grow spiritually.  When President Peterson asks them what they learned on their mission the number one thing is charity.  A love for people and for Christ and Heavenly Father.  At the airport we always hug them goodbye!

June: A Month of Miracles, Transfers, Zone Conference, MLC, New Leader Training, 8 Week Training, Porque Yo Creo, Faith Meets Family and the Temple

The month of June began with baptisms and seeing many missionaries return to Texas for visits, to see people they taught get baptized and enter the Temple for their endowment.  We loved having the returned missionaries, Sister Kay, Sister Owen, Hermana Siri and Elder Robison over to our mission home for meals along with many of their family members.  Transfers were also held from June 11-13.  We said goodbye to many of our wonderful missionaries who served so faithfully and we commented that the Elders who were returning home had come to the mission a week before President Peterson and I arrived and all the sisters of course had been with us their entire mission.  We continue to feel close to our missionaries and a little sad seeing them return home! Soon that sadness is replaced with happiness at welcoming new missionaries to the mission.
June 11 was new leader training for all newly called district, zone and sister training leaders, followed by MLC.
June 19 was 8 week training, all missionaries who have been out for 8 weeks along with their companions get together for training and go over their outlines of principles from Preach My Gospel and role play.
June 20 began zone conference, we now have 4 days of zone conference with smaller numbers of missionaries attending each conference.
June 23 was Porque Yo Creo devotional held each year in Spanish.
Friday June 28 Faith Meets Family at the Houston temple.

Meet Sister Knox May 26, 2019

The end of April we said goodbye to Sister Carol Owens who served faithfully as our mission nurse specialist and returned home to Bountiful Utah.  She was responsible to take calls from missionaries who had physical health concerns, help them with knowing about self care or if needed refer them to a doctor or urgent care, she served 18 months and we miss her.

Sister Sharon Knox was called as a Church Service missionary, lives locally in the Bear Creek Stake and is a native to Houston Texas.  She retired from nursing a year ago, is a convert of 5 years and loves the missionaries.  She has a southern twang and we all love to hear her talk!  She is a widow, has a son who lives in Austin and she has a dog.  We have all grown to quickly love her and are grateful she is serving with all of us in the Texas Houston Mission!

Hailey meets President Nelson!

Our daughter Hailey was blessed to meet President and Sister Nelson and Elder and Sister Gong when they came to visit Auckland New Zealand where Hailey is serving her mission.  She and all the missionaries were told to only say hi and shake hands.  She told us President Nelson looked her in the eye and said her name, Sister Peterson.  We are so blessed we have a prophet who loves the Lord and all the Saints and people of the world.

May Baptisms 2019

Please enjoy these beautiful pictures of a few of our wonderful converts who began the covenant path starting with baptism.  We love hearing of their conversion and love of the missionaries who taught them.
