We Love the East Mission Leaders! And the South too!

We are very blessed to know the East Mission Leaders, President and Sister Hewlett. We love them! We were in the MTC together June 2017, often sitting by one another and have seen them many times while serving.  We saw them during service for Hurricane Harvey,  Mission Leader Seminars (held each 6 months), the re-dedication of the Houston temple (April 2018), at the Houston temple during our transfers, we often were in the same endowment session with our departing missionaries, and at the Houston Rodeo and airport!  We also have met with them and the South Mission Leaders (the Halls and the Guthries) for dinner.  We feel so blessed each time we see one another as we are serving the Lord in this wonderful and exciting work.

United We Stand

It is always a happy moment when new missionaries and their trainers meet for the first time.  There are always smiles and hugs.  Since we are not able at this time to have all the missionaries over to the mission home for dinner and stay overnight (sisters) and the next day have breakfast, see the Houston temple and go to the Hafer building for a few hours of training, it was a quick meeting at the mission office and meeting one another.  We trust the Lord and are grateful for technology which helps us keep in better communication with one another.

Missionaries Arrive March 25, 2020!

March 25 we welcomed 7 missionaries, 4 of which had originally been assigned to another mission.  The Provo MTC is now closed and needed to send out all missionaries.  We picked them up from the airport (which is basically empty of travelers) and brought them to the mission office for a BBQ dinner and brief training.  President Peterson interviewed all of them in his office and assigned them to their trainer.  All trainers came to the office and waited in the parking lot until they came in one by one to meet their new missionary companion, take a picture and go to their area.  Because of the coronavirus, and in Harris County (Houston) we are not to gather in groups and are to stay at home, only going out for groceries, gas, the doctor and essential errands.  Missionaries coming to our mission is considered an essential errand!
We are so grateful Heavenly Father sent these wonderful missionaries to us and for all the THM missionaries and all those around the world.

Here they come!

Transfers March 24-26/ Covid-19- 20 Missionaries return home

Transfers this month saw many more missionaries returning home then originally planned.  We originally had 4 elders scheduled to return home.  Because of the Covid-19 virus and missionaries returning home from all over the world, we needed to send home missionaries whos health put them at risk along with 2 elders who were at their 21 months in the mission (release date by September 1, 2020).  We ended up having to send a total of 20 missionaries home.  Lots of tears were shed as missionaries were told they were going to have to go home early, however most said they felt peace about going home and knew it was the right time and thing for them.  We are saddened by the events of this virus and the impact it is having on the world, missionaries from the US who are serving in foreign countries are being sent home to quarantine for 14 days and may, depending on how many months they have left (18 for elders and 15 for sisters) be sent out to serve in other missions.  We know Heavenly Father is aware of everything and we trust in Him and His plan for all His children.
