Montgomery Food Bank

Here are half of the missionaries who served on Saturday at the Montgomery County Food Bank FOOD FEST. Over 3,000 people in 521 cars were offered donations. It was a meaningful and sobering day to see so many in need. The missionaries served with big hearts and sincere smiles! Also included are a few other pictures from the weekend along with President Pingree's weekly email message to missionaries.

Dear Sisters and Elders –

It was great to be with each of you during zone conferences this past week. Thank you for your comments, testimonies, and contributions to the meetings.

The Missionary Handbook explains: “You have been called by a prophet of God and set apart to represent the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church” (p. 3).  One way we honor God and our calling is by the way we refer to each other.

“Refer to other missionaries, including your companion, as ‘Elder’ or ‘Sister’ and their surnames, not by their first names, nicknames, or surnames alone” (MH, 9).  When we refer to each other as “Elder” or “Sister,” we honor the Lord and show respect for the calling He has given us.  We also show respect for each other.  When we refer to each other by last names only or by nicknames, we minimize the calling the Lord has afforded us.

Please make an extra effort to refer to each other properly so that we can reverence the Lord and respect the opportunity He has given us to represent Him.  As we do, we will gain more trust from the Lord (1 Samuel 2:30) and develop a deeper reverence for our callings.

Love,

President Pingree
