The month of May brought 10 new missionaries into the mission and we saw 7 return home.  Missionaries were able to return to the temple with their zone and take a family name they found themselves. They are able to attend once a quarter.  This was their first time in the temple since August when Hurricane Harvey flooded the temple and it had to be closed for renovations   May 9 the missionaries received an award along with other recipients for Volunteer of the Year.  President and Sister Peterson attended a luncheon and ceremony along with Elder and Sister Sellers and Jan Chappell.  The fourth Friday of each month we attend Faith Meets Families, in which converts bring a family name to the Houston temple and do proxy baptisms.  We had over  35 converts attend with missionaries and ward members.   Every other month we also have a fireside "Why I Believe" we ask 3 recent converts to share their conversion (in 5 minutes!) missionaries sing in a choir and solos, we show short videos and Sister and President Peterson speak. President Broadbent organizes this  and it is a very uplifting evening.  Each Friday districts meet and we choose one to attend.  We enjoy the meetings and often go out to lunch after with the district.    Memorial day  Elder Garcia and his district surprised everyone at the mission office with a bbq out back.  We had never used the backyard or bbq before and may begin a tradition!
34 precious souls entered the waters of baptism this month and we are so grateful for their testimonies and love of the gospel and our Savior.
