Transfers

On August 2, after a day at the temple, a special dinner and testimony meeting we said goodbye to 24 stalwart missionaries who had served so faithfully and done so much good.  We are excited for them to start a new chapter in their lives and know they will do great things.  They each have a plan to stay close to the Lord and always put Him first.  They also plan to be productive going to school, dating, working and preparing for life.  We will miss them.

The day after they arrive, they meet their trainers and are oriented in the 12-week training schedule.  They are excited and feel relief when they get with their assigned trainers. Trainers are chosen because of their diligence and example that will have a long-lasting impact on their trainees.

Faith Meets Families

Every fourth Friday of the month, new converts bring their ancestors' names to the Houston Temple to do saving ordinance work for them.  It is a very special time for them and their missionaries who taught them.  There were 25 new converts there last Friday and many happy, smiling faces.

Training, Leadership, and Firesides

President Peterson Training on Leadership In the Kingdom
We held our first Mission Leadership Council with these wonderful young leaders in the Texas Houston Mission.  Their counsel and wisdom were invaluable as we strive to move the Work of Salvation forward in this part of the vineyard.  Sister Peterson and I were impressed with their knowledge and desire to lead others in the Savior's way.  What a fine group of missionaries serve here!

Assistants Teach at MLC

President and Sister Peterson have been attending some wonderful District Meetings where missionaries are learning and practicing language, doctrine and teaching.  These are powerful meetings held each Friday.  In July, the missionaries learned how to use the Book of Mormon to help investigators receive revelation and deepen conversion.

Missionaries sang and performed at the "Why I Believe" fireside at the Katy Stake Center on Sunday night.  Many investigators and new converts attended to be uplifted and taught.  The Spirit was strong as our wonderful missionaries are a shining example of the gospel and service.

We arrived in the Texas Houston mission!

President Peterson, Hailey and I arrived in the mission Friday June 30. We were warmly met by the Mortensen family and the 2 assistants. We felt very loved by all we have met. Friday evening president Peterson went teaching with some elders and I went teaching with sisters.  Saturday we attended 4 baptisms and are so impressed with the missionaries who are here.  Tuesday -Thursday we met all the missionaries and again felt very loved. We are excited and blessed to be here among so many strong and faith filled missionaries who want to help bless the lives of the people here.    As I figure put how to use this blog I will add pictures.  Much thanks to Cierra who showed me how to blog.  She may also be helping to post news and pictures as she is very talented and knows what she is doing better then I!
