Transfer week actually began Monday September 24 as we welcomed back Elder Corey who had gone home for health reasons a few months back.   He fit right back into the mission and many who know him are so happy he returned! We also welcomed Sister Turner along with 11 new elders however before they came to the mission we said goodbye to 11 elders who served faithfully and returned home to their families!

Mission Tour with Elder and Sister Pieper, Faith Meets Familes and 8 Week

August 23-25 we were blessed to have President Pieper and his wife visit our mission for a mission tour.  We learned so much from them especially about goals.  We were all uplifted and motivated to be better. The missionaries went out teaching Thursday and Friday late afternoon/evening with the Piepers and Petersons.  They joined us Friday night for Faith Meets Families at the Houston Temple (4th Friday of each month).  Saturday was MLC (missionary leadership council with zone leaders and sister training leaders) for 2 hours in the morning.
The following week on Wednesday August 29 was 8 week training.

Mission Temple Days August 7-9, 2018

Every 3 months the missionaries are able to attend the Houston Temple with their district.  Each missionary is asked to bring a family name they have personally found while doing family history work each week.  They are all allowed to work on family history for one hour a week.  Missionaries are learning to love family history and are quite good at finding names sometimes with the assistance of a ward family history consultant.  One missionary who returned home a few months ago told me he loves family history work and that his mother was going to be very surprised and happy!
