September 28, 2019 Houston Deaf Convention

On Saturday September 28, we were invited to participate in a large deaf convention in south Houston.  2,500 deaf people from Texas, Louisiana and surrounding states came to this event.  After talking with the Deaf branch, we decided to prepare a Family History-focused booth.  We found pictures of our own ancestors to use in the display.  The Deaf community loved learning about their family history!  This is Janes story:

Jane doesn't know much about her mother, including where she was buried.  She has grown up her whole life not knowing.  Within a few minutes,  we were able to find a picture of her moms headstone online.  The cemetery was only an hour away.  Jane sat there in tears as her heart was turned to her mother, and she plans to visit the cemetery in the future.

This is just one story.  From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, we didn't get a break.  People lined up to learn about their families.  We have seen much fruit, we have contact information for 33 people interested in learning more.  We are so excited to help them!
