Transfer Week

Transfers have come and gone once again in the Texas Houston Mission. This week we said farewell to nine terrific missionaries - Elders Moreno, Cawley, Haws, Whittle, Aranda, White and Barker and Sisters Fonua and Barton.  We will miss them greatly and appreciate their dedicated service!  These missionaries were replaced with nine new missionaries who seem prepared and excited to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are happy to welcome Elders Barney, Snow and Hamelau and Sisters Serrano, Koerner, Folsom, Jacobsen, Tusa and Gutierrez.  (By the way, this is the first transfer we have received more Sisters than Elders.)

We conducted the typical training meetings, meals and firesides associated with transfers, however a few unique things happened as well.  Unfortunately, the mission trailer was stolen during the night. Some of the new missionaries lost shoes, clothing, suits, books and scriptures.  Also, we had the heaviest downpour of rain that Houston has experienced in the last two years.  Streets and canals were flooded as well as some homes and residential neighborhoods.

After a career workshop at the Employment Center, departing missionaries
came to the mission home for lunch and interviews.
