Another Tri-Mission Conference

Today the THM was blessed with the opportunity to hear from some wonderful church leaders at the Bering chapel in the South mission boundary.  Elders Callister, Ellis and Echo Hawk were in Houston for a single adult conference this weekend and agreed to speak with missionaries serving from the three Houston missions early this morning.

Elder Echo Hawk spoke to us first and reminded us of the power of the Book of Mormon in conversion.  He shared some great stories from his youth and about the special missionaries who taught his family when he was a teenager.  Next, Elder Ellis spoke about the importance of being obedient.  He told about an experience he had in 1966 while at the MTC as a young missionary when he made a commitment to the Lord that he would always be obedient.  He challenged the missionaries to decide today to be fully obedient to the Lord not only on their missions, but for the rest of their lives.  Lastly, Elder Callister led a powerful discussion about the Plan of Salvation and then clearly taught the missionaries the importance of doing the following in their missionary work:

1. Have a member present at EVERY SINGLE lesson,
2. Be obedient (even when you don't feel like it or it isn't convenient),
3. Open your mouth ALWAYS,
4. Have a sense of urgency about the work and
5. Ask for referrals at the end of every lesson you teach.

It was a great, spiritual morning and hopefully provided some motivation for all of us as we strive to be faithful missionaries and help move the work of the Lord forward in the Houston area.  Here are a few pictures we took before the meeting.
